Priyantha Sirisena's assailant remanded

The suspect who was captured the previous evening for assaulting the President's sibling Priyantha Sirisena with a hatchet, has been remanded until the eighth of April by the Polonnaruwa Magistrate's Court.

Wear Ishara Lakmal Saputhanthri was captured after he surrendered to Bakamuna Police taking after the episode and delivered under the watchful eye of the court today (27).

Police said that amid sessions, the suspect uncovered that the wrongdoing was conferred in retaliation as Priyantha had shouted at his guardians utilizing foul dialect.

Saputhanthri, 34, had expressed that he concealed and held up for Priyantha, otherwise called Weli Raju, before assaulting him with the hatchet to the back of the head, police said.
